City Wide Creative Speech Contest A project to create a higher awareness of the inspiring life and work of Mahatma Gandhi to promote universal values of Truth, Non-Violence, Love and Service. The contest is open to all children in the greater Houston area and is part of the weeklong, city- wide celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Week culminating on October 4, 2009 as “1000 Lights For Peace”. Date: October 3 2009 In a maximum of 3 minutes present a talk on: Age 11 and up "Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed."Age 10 and below “Does An eye for an eye make the whole world blind”
The talks will be judged on content, presentation style and delivery by a panel of judges. Winners will also present their talk at the annual “1000 Lights for Peace” celebration. You must register by 5 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2009. Questions? Call Vijay Singh-713-480-2136 |
