City Wide Creative Speech Contest

A project to create a higher awareness of the inspiring life and work of Mahatma Gandhi to promote universal Truth, Non-Violence, Love & Service. The contest is open to all High School and Middle School students in the greater Houston area and is part of the weeklong, city-wide celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Week as “1000 Lights For Peace” culminating on October 3, 2010.

In a maximum of 3 minutes present a talk on the respective topic. The talks will be judged on content, presentation style and delivery by a panel of judges. Winners will also present their talk at the annual “1000 Lights for Peace” celebration.

Age 11 & Up
Topic: Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self-sustained.

Age 10 & Below
Topic: Non-violence is weapon of the strong.
