City Wide Creative Essay Contest

A project to create a higher awareness of the inspiring life and work of Mahatma Gandhi to promote universal Truth, Non-Violence, Love & Service. The contest is open to all High School and Middle School students in the greater Houston area and is part of the weeklong, city-wide celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Week as “1000 Lights For Peace” culminating on October 3, 2010.

Essays must be typed, 12-point and double spaced with word count typed at the bottom. Entries must be enclosed in a report cover with attached Entry Form. No late entries will be considered.

High School Students
Topic: The seeker after truth should be humbler than the dust.

Middle/Junior High School Students
Topic: It is possible to live in peace.
