Mahatma Gandhi Week

Mahatma Gandhi Week is celebrated each year around October 2. The week starts with Heroes for Peace at Houston's Children's museum, followed by screening of A Force More Powerful Houston's Public Television KUHT 8. Additional activities during the week consist of Speech Contest, Display of "Gandhi Darshan" (Glimpse of Gandhi) exhibition at a library in Houston. The finale of the week is Walk for Peace and 1000 Lights For Peace to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on October 2. The finale takes place on Sunday following October 2. At 1000 Lights For Peace all present light a candle to practice peace in their own lives.
